We recently put on the First Annual King Auto Corner Yard Sale – and boy, was it a huge success! The event lasted from 8 am to 2pm, and we had an unbelievable turnout.

It was free to participate, so anyone who wanted a booth, table, or tent could have one – and they could sell anything that they wanted to sell. We’re still blown away by the response… we had an awesome time, and we can’t wait to do it again next year!

We’re encouraging all employees, families, friends, organizations, clubs, churches, and individuals to set up booths or tents. We’re expecting a huge turnout, and we want to grow this into the biggest annual event that King Auto Corner hosts every year.

Tires

Your tires might have faced a lot of rough weather last winter. Check your tire treads with the old penny trick – if you place a penny upside-down in the tread of your tire and can see the top of Lincoln’s head, your tire needs to be replaced. Put air in your tires and make sure they’re inflated to the level specified on the inside of your car door, which will also help you get better fuel economy. Lastly, have your tires rotated. This will help them last longer.

Windshield Wipers

Now is a great time to replace your windshield wiper blades. Your wipers were probably working extra hard to clear snow and ice during the winter, so install replacement blades in order to prepare for the summer. Windshield wiper blades are cheap and easy to replace yourself.

Fluids

Check all the fluid levels in your car. Top off anything that isn’t full, or replace the fluids altogether with a fresh supply. The fluids you need to check are windshield washer fluid, motor oil, antifreeze and coolant, power steering fluid, and transmission fluid. During the spring and summer, get in the habit of checking your motor oil every time you fill up your car. If you notice a leak or think you’re using oil faster than normal, have it checked out immediately.

Paint and Interior

You don’t only want your car running great; you also want it looking great. Take the time and put in the effort to thoroughly clean your car, or take it to be detailed. Vacuum and clean the interior, and check for any trash under your seats. Apply a potectant to any vinyl or leather surfaces inside your car to help them hold up in the hot sun and avoid cracking or fading. Also wash and wax the exterior of your car to help your paint job last. Remember to also hose off the underbody of your car.

Brakes and Lights

Evaluate how your brakes are working, and take them in for a tune-up if you haven’t done so in the past year. Also check to make sure all your lights are working. You’ll need to enlist a friend to help you do that. Replace any lights that are out.

Battery

It is recommended that the battery in your car be replaced every three years. If you haven’t replaced your battery in that long, do so now. Also check the posts and cables to make sure they aren’t corroded.

If you haven’t seen any videos by OK Go, you’re missing out. They first went viral with their incredibly choreographed treadmill video for Here It Goes Again, then they had another hit with their insane Rube Goldberg video for This Too Shall Pass.

For their new video, General Motors gave the band a Chevrolet Sonic to use both as a musical instrument and to play musical instruments. The car was rigged with microphones, cameras, and hydraulic appendages – and the entire project took four months to complete. The actual video shoot took place over four full days of shooting. If you watched the Super Bowl, you might have seen a piece of the finished video in Chevy’s ad blitz.

But enough talking about the video – words can’t do it justice. You just have to see it.

1. Reduce Costs

2. Be Prepared

Make sure that you know things like the trade-in value of the vehicle, as well as having your finances in order to make the process go smoothly. The most powerful thing that you can have other than financial stability is knowledge. If you go in well-educated and know exactly what you are looking for, you can cut through all the fluff that you may or may not get fed by the sales people. Very seldom do customers walk into a dealership already sharp and ready to make a confident purchase. This is why so many people end up paying for overpriced vehicles with a short life-span. Taking all these things into consideration on your next purchase will help you avoid these pitfalls and help you walk away with more money in hand. Buying a car does not have to be an incredibly expensive process every time, but it requires that you put in the elbow grease to find the best deal.
